Achieving great success in her field, Dr. Allegra is a respected psychiatrist who is retired from practice. During her active years on the job, she tended to patients at her private practice in Providence, Rhode Island. 

There, she was responsible for diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders through the incorporation of medical, psychological, and social knowledge. Some of the services that she offered included: behavior modification, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, case management, court-ordered services, family psychoeducation, marital therapy, and trauma therapy.

Locally, she held privileges at Butler Hospital, a private, non-profit, psychiatric and substance abuse hospital for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. She offered care for conditions / issues such as chronic illness, relationship issues, and more.

Back in 1949, Dr. Allegra graduated with her medical degree from the University of Bologna – Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Italy. After relocating to Providence, she completed her residency and fellowship in psychiatry at Butler Hospital in 1975 and 1976, respectively. 

Following her training, she attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
